What this is

Hello. This is going to be a newsletter run by me, Steve Akehurst, and my friend Tom Mauchline on all things to do with progressive campaigning and communications - especially issue campaigning (stuff to do with advancing a policy agenda).

For my part, i’ve worked on issue campaigns most of my career and am currently doing so on climate change, and Tom works on digital campaigns at 89Up. It’ll mostly be an outlet for things we are learning through work that we think others might be interested in. I’m not going to promise you that it’ll be regular or even that well thought through (pleasingly, its name can be shortened to SMH) - but we’ll try and make it original, and hopefully it’ll be useful or at least thought provoking occasionally.
